ST. LUCIA

St. Lucia is the second largest of the Windward islands and has become the most populated nations in the Caribbean. It is a mountainous island of some 240 square miles and has about 120,000 inhabitants. Castries is the capital and is built on the southern shore of a large harbor surrounded by hills. It has some of the finest resorts.

The rest of St. Lucia remains relatively unspoiled, a checkerboard of green-mantled mountains, valleys, banana plantations, a bubbling volcano, wild orchids and fishing villages.
